Before Rachel was even born her brother nicknamed her "Cake", it stuck with her for many years
Rachel Smith graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in New York with an Associates in Baking & Pastry Arts in 2012. She has worked at cupcake shops & wedding cake boutiques as the Lead Decorator, with many cakes published in magazines & blogs. In 2017, with the loving support of her husband & family, she created Cakesmith.
Cakesmith is located on Big Red Farm in Bealeton, Virginia. Rachel's two passions are cakes & animals. When Rachel isn't whipping up things in the kitchen she is tending to the family farm, which currently has chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, pygmy goats, maine coon cats, alpacas and 1 mini cow named T Bone
What sets Cakesmith apart from all the other bakeshops? Details. Rachel's attention to detail and creative ability always takes every cake to the next level. She also loves the sweet & unique story each couple has and if possible tries to blend that into their cake. Her belief is that cake should reflect and tell your story.
All her cakes, fillings & buttercreams are made from scratch. Her recipes include local farm fresh eggs & butter instead of shortening.
